We pride ourselves on continuing a tradition of training scouts to assume leadership roles in running meetings, planning overnight trips and hikes as well as helping younger scouts to advance in rank.Camp ReadEvery Summer the troop spends one week at Camp Read in the Adirondacks. Scouts 13 and older spend an additional week in the back-country experiencing a BSA High Adventure Canoe Trek.ActivitiesOur school year calendar features trips to Gettysburg, The Appalachian Trail, Island Campouts with the US Fish and Wildlife Service on Long Island Sound, Skiing at Gore Mountain, Camping at Lake Glimmerblass at Cooperstown as well as Fire Island National Seashore. Our troop will be sending twenty scouts and leaders to Philmont Scout Reservation, New Mexico in August 2010.Eagle ScoutsWe are very proud of the high percentage of our scouts that achieve the rank of Eagle and the many ways people have benefited from their Eagle projects.Adult LeadersOur Adult Leadership aspires to demonstrate to the boys the scout law in action. They are experienced, knowledgeable, patient and cheerful. |
